One Year Older

My birthday just passed. I'm not one for big celebrations, but this year, I had the best birthday I've had in years. Superstitiously, I tend to think that how I celebrate my birthday indicates how that year will fare off for me. If my thoughts are correct, then my year will be full of love, friendship and surprises.

As I look back on the last year, it's certainly been one of growth. I've learned a lot about myself and have gotten my shit together. I have developed new skills at work and have begun to manage my time efficiently in most aspects of my life. I've been healthy, and for the most part happy.

Things I accomplished at 28:

- Let go of a lot of my anger

- Started enjoying working out

- Further embraced my sexuality

- Grew out my hair

- Learned about content creation

- Travelled to NYC twice

- Travelled to Atlanta twice

- Went to Disney World by myself

- Went to Europe with my friends

- Visited family in North Carolina

- Learned how to code websites

- Signed up for acting lessons

- Made new, wonderful friends

- Fixed up my apartment

- Made progress with my psychiatrist

- Stopped letting my grandmother get to me

- Reconnected with some friends I had abandoned

- Started saving money for retirement

- Figured out a new budgeting system

- Lost 15 pounds

- Got a tan! (new year’s resolution)

- Went to the beach quite a bit

- Brought my credit score up

- Paid off my student loan

- Paid off my old car

- Bough a new car

- Got new credit card and lowered debt on old one

- Started this blog

I think it’s important I write these things down, so I can remember how far I’ve come in just one year. It’s been wonderful and I am really hoping 29 will be incredible. In fact, I know it will be.
